Bloom’s Taxonomy & Objectives

After brainstorming and creating a concept map, I wrote the objectives. When writing the objectives, the instructor uses to Bloom’s Taxonomy to select rigorous activities promoting higher-level thinking and problem-solving. Bloom’s Taxonomy is a graph with six cognitive levels that increase in difficulty from low to high. Verbs describe activities performed at that level. After choosing an activity, the next step is to determine at what level of mastery is acceptable and what assessment tool best measures the performance. The activity is formative in that the instructor monitors student work. The instructor may guide the student when needed and provide feedback. Peers play an important role when they discuss the process. Students need to be able to revise their projects after gaining feedback from their instructors and peers.
