EASyR Lesson

The Evaluation part of the assignment involves researching to find information I can use for my assignment. Finding quality resources on my topic takes time.

The Analysis is when I look at my collected resources and find parts that focus on and support my objective.

Synthesize is when I combine the information I found in the analysis stage and add my own experiences to create a new level of understanding.

The “R” stands for review, reflect, and revise. We must be reflective, and as we experience more new information, we must review our understanding and revise again by going through the process again and again.

This is an example of how EASyR is used in the online course.

Evaluation: In module 2, we were to find an article on Social Constructivism. While searching, I looked at several articles before choosing one that I felt would be useful for my assignment.

Analysis: For another assignment in module 2, we were to find an online personality test and then discuss it with our group to determine how it could be used to group students. I had looked at a few of them, and the first few were not appropriate for our purpose. The one I chose talked about what type of activities each personality type prefers. This helped me know how to group individuals according to their preferences.

Synthesize: During module 3, we were to create a PLE and post it on our course website. I made a list of the different communities I belong to. Then, I chose to make a graphic of my PLE instead of a table. I made buttons for each of their logos. We were to show the ones I have had in the past, what I currently have, and what I am exploring and would like to have in the future.

“R” stands for review, reflect, and revise. On my course website, I have a reflective journal in which I write about what I have learned and my thoughts about my assignments. I will also review and revise my site to reflect how I have grown.

EASy Lesson Plan

Students create a Text Effect title for their e-portfolio using Photoshop. I will compare the differences

between a traditional f2f course and an online course.

Key:

Evaluate- Students will serf sites for text effects to find a texture that will work with their topic.

Analyze- Students will discuss their prompt that asks them to discuss how their text effect complements their flipbook.

Synthesize- Students create a text effect that unifies with the entire composition (e-portfolio)

Old F2F Text Effect assignment:

  • Teacher gives student’s assignment packet and reads directions and rubric

  • Teacher shows students examples of portfolios

  • Teacher shows students text effect sites

  • Teacher lectures how the text effect needs to unify with the portfolio

  • Students pick a text effect & began working creating text effect in Photoshop

  • Teacher monitors student work

  • Teacher gives feedback

  • Students submit their work

  • Teacher grades assignment using rubric

  • Teacher gives students a quiz and averages their grades

Same Text Effect assignment online:

  • Facilitator turns on module assignments along with the assignment rubric and student examples

  • Students read assignment articles

  • Students discuss prompt that asks them to discuss how their text effect complements their flipbook (formative)

  • Students research and choose a text effect for their e-portfolio and create it using Photoshop

  • Students share their work with online cohort and critiques them (formative)

  • Students re-work text effects

  • Student finishes assignment and submits it online (formative)

  • Student writes their reflection on assignment in their e-portfolio journal

  • Facilitator grades assignment using rubric and writes feedback (formative)

  • Student reads feedback and re-works assignment

  • Facilitator grades final e-portfolio project using a rubric at the end of the course (summative).
