The problem with assessments

 

There are many assessment tools online for a wide range of purposes. These assessment tools can grade the tests automatically, giving students instant feedback. Those tests are convenient but need to measure higher-level thinking or what the student knows. Some don’t offer short answers or essay questions that could provide insight into their thinking. These tests would work well as formative vocabulary tests. Students should be allowed to retake the tests until they reach a higher level of mastery. Rubrics are the best method for project-based assessments due to the numerous elements of the project. However, they are challenging to write to address all activity components accurately. They can not be changed to address overlooked areas until the project is completed.
